If you are anything like me, it seems like you have a never-ending to-do list. From the time you open your eyes until you go to sleep at night, the list is running off in your head, smartphone, task list, however you track your items. If we are not careful, we will begin to see all of the gifts and treasures that God has given us as “items” on that list instead of blessings in our lives.
For instance, think of all the things that are on your list for your children? For your home? For your job? For your church? For your community? You are probably shaking your head, just reflecting on those things and feeling overwhelmed. Let me start this charge by admitting that I am guilty of all of the above. I remember one day talking to a colleague of mine, and he said something that shifted my thinking. He said, “Keisha, change how you look at everything that you are doing, you don’t “got” to do any of it, but you “get” to.” Oh, the power of one letter. Changing my perspective from a “got to” mentality transformed my entire approach. These were God-given opportunities that I was treating as burdens instead of blessings.
Dear friend, I am passing on that same wisdom to you today. Filter your “got to’s” through your “get to’s” and find joy in serving others, find contentment in being a blessing, find satisfaction in being able to, find honor in being selected, and find power in being able to touch lives and make a difference today – right in your sphere of influence. I challenge you to look at your list from a different view.
Get Real Reflection:
- What is one blessing that you have viewed as a burden?
- What is one confession or affirmation that you can make regarding that blessing that helps to shift your perspective?
- What are a few things that you need to shift your mindset from ‘got to’ to ‘get to’ effective immediately?
Change your view, and your heart will follow!
